Complete an Interview
When you’re invited to participate in an episode, you’ll receive an email from StoryShop. This email will contain a list of the questions you’ll be asked in your interview so don’t forget to scroll to the bottom! Click the “Get Started” button when you are ready to record your interview.
In Orson, you’ll see a short overview with some additional details about the episode.
Click the “Let’s Go!” button to start your interview.
To prep you for your interview, one of our directors will give you an introduction with some tips and best practices. When the video is finished, the “First Question” button will take you to the first question in the interview.
The box at the top of the recording screen (shown below) has some important information:
- A) The question you are on/the total number of questions in the interview.
- B) A short version of the question spoken by the director
- C) The maximum length of your answer for this question.
Click “Answer” to record your response.
When you click record, you’ll see a 3-2-1 countdown appear before the camera starts recording.
The timer in the blue banner will countdown as you record your answer.
As you record your response, we'll remind you of how much time is left.
If you didn’t like your first recording, you can re-record your answer using the “Another Take” button in the bottom left of your screen.
Once you decide which take you like best, click on the tile for that take and click “Next” to move to the next question.
After you record your answer to the last question, click “Review and Finish” to review all of your responses and re-record any that you aren’t happy with.
If pictures are part of your interview, you’ll be asked to upload pictures as the last step.
After uploading your pictures, click “That’s a Wrap!” to submit your interview.
